Kiwi Books to Films: An Angel at my Table

The New Zealand Feature Film An Angel at my Table is based on author Janet Frame's renowned three-part autobiography which threads together a series of images and scenes to evoke Frame's dramatic life story. The three books Owls Do Cry (deutscher Titel: Wenn Eulen schrein); An Angel at my table (deutscher Titel:Ein Engel an meiner Tafel); and Towards Another Summer (deutscher Titel: Dem neuen Sommer entgegen) have been translated and published in Germany this year.

Originally made as a TV drama, the much-acclaimed and richly-visual film established Jane Campion as an international director, launched the career of actress Kerry Fox, and introduced new audiences to the "mirror city" of Frame's writing.
